Born and Raised Hoosier
At the young age of 12, Jared knew that he would spend a lifetime serving our nation. Sitting in a lawn chair, glued to a 14-inch television, he watched the horror that took place at the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11th, 2001. That day shook the nation to its core, and that’s when his entire life changed. He felt God’s call to serve.
Born in Indianapolis, Jared attended William Henry Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Indiana, where he played football, soccer, and golf. Competing against some of Indiana’s brightest to gain admission to West Point, he earned nominations from Representative Steve Buyer (IN-4) and Indiana Senator Richard Lugar. Jared went on to graduate from West Point with a degree in American Politics.
Immediately following his graduation, Jared accepted a commission as a cavalry officer in the United States Army. Jared spent a year at Fort Benning, Georgia before serving for four years at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, as a proud member of the historic 101st Airborne Division. Jared deployed to Northern Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, where he received the Bronze Star Medal for his efforts in tackling the complex issue of ISIS-controlled drones. Jared was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a Captain and returned immediately to West Lafayette, Indiana.
